It seems like such a small thing. Insignificant really. One voice, speaking up. Telling the truth. Not to benefit self, or to excuse or wash away behavior marred in self, greed, and avarice. Just one voice, speaking up to defend what they believe to be right. Not the self righteous kind of “right”. But a voice that speaks to the benefit of self and others as opposed to the voice that speaks for the benefit of self at the expense of others. It is a wonder of life to me, when that one voice speaks out in truth, in defense of others. In their best interests, it resonates in the world. A ripple in the pond of life goes out and touches others, eager to be heard, to share their voice with the voices of others who believe as they believe. And so a movement is born. One voice becomes many and cannot be ignored by those who would have it silenced. Such is the home for many voices who believe that every addict/alcoholic should have a shot at freedom. To know what it is to walk the Earth free men and women, no longer dependent on the dealer, whatever face he may have, whatever mask he may wear. I give my voice to the Abstinence-Based Treatment Alliance, a non-profit with one purpose. To see that abstinence is offered up in America as the best possible outcome. Whether an addict/alcoholic achieves this remarkable accomplishment or not is not the point. The point is; who are we? What would we wish for our brothers and sisters? I choose to support freedom. Please join me in supporting the alliance by going to ABTANOW.ORG and let your voice be heard. I will see you there.
Love, Earl
